Split With M. Night Shyamalan Was the "Most Wonderful Experience" Anya Taylor-Joy Has Ever Had

Taylor-Joy Says Shyamalan "Gave Me the Freedom to Be Creative"

Anya Taylor-Joy made a name for herself playing Beth Harmon, the troubled chess prodigy in the Netflix series The Queen's Gambit. But before she was taking on international tournaments, she was just an actress trying to break into the industry. One of her early lucky breaks was winning the role of Casey Cooke in M. Night Shyamalan's 2016 thriller Split. Now, Taylor-Joy is looking back on her experience with Shyamalan and sharing how grateful she is for the opportunity to have worked with him.

In a recent interview with Variety, Taylor-Joy said that making Split was "the most wonderful experience" she has ever had on set. She praised Shyamalan for giving her the freedom to be creative and for always being open to her ideas. "He's always open to you coming to him with questions and he's always open to you being creative," she said.

Taylor-Joy also said that she learned a lot from Shyamalan about the craft of filmmaking. "He's such a master of his art," she said. "I watched him work and I learned so much about how to tell a story and how to create a character." Taylor-Joy's performance in Split was one of the highlights of the film, and she has since gone on to star in a number of successful films, including The Witch, Glass, and The Queen's Gambit.

It's great to hear that Taylor-Joy had such a positive experience working with Shyamalan. It's a shame that they haven't worked together again, but perhaps they'll team up for another project in the future.
