Ironton/Russell bridge closure to begin Monday

Motorists should plan ahead

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that the Ironton/Russell bridge will be closed beginning Monday, May 1, for repairs.

The bridge will be closed to all traffic for approximately four weeks while crews make repairs. KYTC says the project will require removing the existing bridge deck and replacing it with a new one.

Detour information

Traffic will be detoured to the US 23 bridge in Portsmouth, Ohio, during the closure. Motorists should allow for extra time when traveling in the area.

KYTC asks drivers to be aware of the closure and to obey all traffic signs and flaggers.
