Jay Higgins Returns to Minnesota for First College Game

Former Gopher Commit Returns Home

Jay Higgins, a former Gopher commit, is returning to Minnesota for his first college game. Higgins, a 6-foot-7 forward, is now playing for the South Dakota Coyotes. The Coyotes will face the Gophers on November 11th at Williams Arena.

Higgins Was a Highly Touted Recruit

Higgins was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. He was ranked as the No. 83 overall prospect in the 2021 class by 247Sports. Higgins committed to Minnesota in the fall of 2020, but he reopened his recruitment in the spring of 2021. He eventually signed with South Dakota in April of 2021.

Higgins Has Had a Strong Start to His College Career

Higgins has been a key player for the Coyotes this season. He is averaging 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He has also shown a good shooting touch, hitting 42.9% of his three-pointers.

Higgins Will Be a Key Player for South Dakota Against Minnesota
